Signup for March 1 2:30PM Concert (Carnival Ride)

Hello, our next concert is this coming Saturday March 1 at 2:30PM. Let's use this thread to figure out who can play; we will also post the final song link and list of who plays which parts here. I will edit this first post of the of the thread with all updated information so you don't need to scroll thru the whole thread to see the latest info.

So far, the following band members have confirmed they can play for this event: Briallan (and alts), Krokhur, Ashigaru Trecalia. So, this gives us currently a maximum of 8 musicians.

Any other band members who can play for this concert, please respond on this thread, or otherwise contact me via PM or FB.

By the way, 2:30pm is listed at the start of the event, but they may want us to be there a bit early (say 2:15 PM)  -- I will clarify this info with Kiralynn this week.

This contains the Excel Parts Assignment as well as the songs. There are two subdirectories, one called "Bigger" that has some optional versions with more parts, one called "Hold for Encores". Most important is the "Hold for Encores" as we may well need to stretch at the performance.

Costuming Phase One will happen at MeetUp, as well.

Do we have the revised file parts and playlist yet? (I think some of the volumes were being adjusted and renamed to avoid duplicate naming?)

Yes, not only was there some tweaking (finished now), but some new songs were added. Krohkur is working on the final song list and list of who will be playing what. It's not ready yet, but the info will be posted here when it's available.

Still working on the folder, and a finalized set list (play order, etc).

Bri and I went to the rehearsal the Windy Acres Ranch folk did, and I think we have a very firm grasp on how the program goes now. 

My goal is to finalize the folder and parts list so it is ready Friday. 

We have an option of playing a bit before they leave Bree (at a parade walk), then riding hard for the arena in the Horsefields and setting up for the group Arrival. We are still debating this... We've both gone back and forth a bit, we may come to way to do it without danger of blowing the Arrival. Of course, that would mean more tunes. LOL

We are asked to play a bit as the group arrives to the arena, then for a War Steed Parade, showing steeds and cosmetics. We have a set piece to play during the actual Quadrille, then we can play during a trivia contest. Finally, we have the actual concert.  

Sounds like a lot, but we're nearly set with the playlist. 

It would be WONDERFUL if we had a group of "old timer" players who had Anniversary Fireworks (or the racial Fireworks that are permanent) at the field to fire off as the group arrives.  That's one hitch in the plans Windy Acres folks came up with. 

Anyway, watch this space for the link to the set folder, and part assignments.

NOTE: The numbering system is a bit out-of-norm for us. The first LETTER of the song file is the SECTION we play that in, then the NUMBER is the order number within the section. As for Encores, they are not listed in the order we should play them, they are listed as Section "X" (Encores), Number-of-Parts, and a sorting number on the end to sort in order of shortest to longest.

Fixed error in duplicate songs with different names.

Working on the parts listing, but it's taking time; the files we got from LMB don't work with out excel generator, and... some other issues on files numbering and headers. I'll put it in the folder as soon as I get it finished.

I've edited all the incoming songs from Kirilynn and corrected the part numbering of all files to conform with our system.  All should display correctly in Songbook now. I've shortened some filenames, to try to use less window space. ***If you find errors, please let me know ASAP!***

The parts assignment Excel sheet is in the folder, along with the timings list, both have filenames starting in "000" to sort them to the top of the folder for ease in locating and removing from your live Songbook folders.

There is one song I couldn't set completely, and keep all alts assigned to one instrument for the day: E06-CajunTwist6 has an optional second flute part, not covered in this sheet. Again, we could do it, we have the people, it would mean an alt swapping to flute for one song. My goal (as usual) is to keep alts from having to change at all, and then I assigned actual Mains, myself last (so I do the majority of swapping). Note that everyone swaps a lot, but there are stretches where you can relax on one instrument. Nature of these songs, the instrumentation is certainly not uniform. I might have gotten a set order with less swapping of instruments, but this order works really well for pacing changes.

As usual, let me know about anything that needs fixing.

We found a few issues we needed to fix, so the here is the link to the latest version of the songs and the part list.

To make sure you have the latest version, check to see that you have a file called D05-boomboom_6.abc. If you have a file called X61-boomboom_6.abc, then you have the OLDER version and need to download the NEWER version from the link in this post.

Did anyone get any screenshots of the mardi gras concert on Saturday? The organizers were wondering if any were available -- I was a bit too busy to take any myself.
