re: Band Meetup for Sunday, May 4

Hello! Even though Krohkur will be away for a few days, I would like to get together this Sunday at our usual place and time (9PM EDT) to test play music for the spring racing carnival. I will be putting together some pieces over the weekend (I am a little behind with RL stuff going on), so probably I will not put up the song list and parts assignment until a few hours before the meetup on Sunday.
If Rho and Ashi can make it, we will have 9 musicians (including my alts and an alt from Rho), so we should enough band members. Not sure if anyone else is planning on attending, but you are of course welcome if you can make it!
Also, if anyone else has some ABCs ready by Sunday, we can test play though as well -- please let me know so that I can included them for Sunday's program.

I'm not certain if I'll be able to be in game or not... Lots of driving to do Sunday, with all the uncertainty that provides.
I did do some more "New Country" stuff... in the dame Dropbox folder as previous (Windy Acres Possible: LINKED )
Songs added since the last go:
- Friends in Low Places (This would be fun... Hobbits and Dwarves!)
- Brooks Rodeo
- I've Got the Horse
- Ready to Run (Turned out nice, I think... Dixie Chicks song)
- Trashy Women
- Looking For Love (in all the wrong places)
- Lonestar- Amazed
- Beer For My Horses
- Bubba Shot the Jukebox
Sorry not to get them up earlier... Seems busy season for everyone!

I'm working on some songs too, hopefully I'll have them ready in time for tomorrow night. If not we can try them out next time. Thanks for the list, I'll check these out!

Here is list of songs and list of who plays which parts for tonight's meetup. We have about 15 songs at this point, so I would recommend that any additional new songs that people are working on get tested the next session .. we will have at least one (maybe two) more test sessions before the Spring Racing Carnival (still about 2 weeks away).
I based the part assignments on who I think is likely to attend the meetup tonight (Ashi, Rho and myself), though we can change that on the fly if more or less people attend.

I forgot to ask you guys before I logged out, are any of you planning on participating in the Landroval Hobbits to Isengard run? It's on Wednesday, and I'm planning on taking part either on Rho or as a horse. It would be cool to go together if anyone else is planning on it. It would be especially cool if we could go as a herd of horses!!
Also, there's been some pretty great info in the last transcript if you haven't checked it out yet. If you don't have time to wade through them in general, I added notes on the front page so you can see when there have been guests in the hobbit runs. That tends to be when the best info is shared. Recently Rowan has been showing up in them to answer questions, and he has a tendency to give out good little tidbits. Like, he's considering adding a ferret pet now. I must have one!!

I didn't know you could be a horse .. is that like being a chicken? Do you have any cool emotes as a horse?
But I will be at class (that time is sort of middle of my school day) so I can't go either.

Yep, it's like being a chicken, and you can kick your legs up or rear up - there's a bunch of fun stuff you can do.

Lyrics for Review:
The timing codes are for syncing words to the song file, so you get an idea of the timing.
First up: "Bubba Shot the Jukebox"
[0:13] ~ We were all down at The Pony ~ Telling stories if we had one ~ Someone asked the minstrel to play ~ The song sure was a sad one. ~ A teardrop rolled down Bubba's nose ~ From the pain the song was inflicting ~ And all at once he jumped to his feet ~ Just like somebody kicked him.
[0:36] ~ Bubba shot the minstrel last night ~ Said he played a sad song it made him cry ~ Went to his horse and got his crossbow ~ Bubba shot the bard, laid him low
[0:54] ~ Bubba ain't never been accused of being mentality stable ~ So we did not draw an easy breath ~ Until he laid that bow on the table ~ He hung his head till the watch showed up ~ They dragged him right out of The Pony ~ Told him "Don't play dumb with us, son" ~ "You know damn well what the charge is."
~ Bubba shot the minstrel last night ~ Said he played a sad song it made him cry ~ Went to his horse and got his crossbow ~ Bubba shot the bard, laid him low
[1:37] ~ Well, the Sheriff arrived with his bathrobe on ~ The confrontation was a tense one ~ Shook his head said, "Bubba Boy, ~ You was always a dense one. ~ Reckless discharge of a bow ~ That's what the Watchers are claiming." ~ Bubba hollered, "Reckless! Hell!" ~ "I shot just where I was aiming."
~ Bubba shot the minstrel last night ~ Said he played a sad song it made him cry ~ Went to his horse and got his crossbow ~ Bubba shot the minstrel, ~ Stopped him with one shot ~ Bubba shot the minstrel last night.
~ Well he could not tell right from wrong ~ Through the teardrops in his eyes ~ Beyond a shadow of a doubt ~ It was justifiable homicide
[2:45] ~ Bubba shot the minstrel ~ Stopped him with one shot
~ Bubba shot the minstrel last night

Lyric Review:
"Beer For My Horses"
[0:20] ~ Well, a herald called out upon the stage ~ Said somebody's been stabbed in a fit of rage, ~ Somebody's set fire to Archet, Somebody stole a mare, ~ Somebody yodelled at midnight in their underwear. ~ Underwear Yodeller here in the square!
[0:43] ~ Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son ~ A man had to answer for the wicked that he done ~ Take all the rope in Rohan ~ Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys ~ Hang them high in the street ~ for all the people to see that
[1:05] ~ Justice is the one thing you should always find ~ You got to saddle up your boys ~ You got to draw a hard line ~ When the bandits dangle we’ll sing a victory tune ~ We’ll all meet back at the local saloon ~ We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces ~ Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
[1:38] ~ We got too many brigands doing dirty deeds ~ We’ve got too much corruption, too much crime in the streets ~ It’s time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground ~ Send ’em all to their maker and he’ll settle ’em down ~ You can bet he’ll set ’em down ’cause
~ Justice is the one thing you should always find ~ You got to saddle up your boys ~ You got to draw a hard line ~ When the bandits dangle we’ll sing a victory tune ~ We’ll all meet back at the local saloon ~ We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces ~ Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses ~ Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

These are great! Hopefully we can come up with lyrics for a few more as well -- Rho is threatening to do something for "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" ... which I am looking forward to immensely if she gets around to it :)

Lyric Review: Garth Brooks "Rodeo"
~ His eyes are cold and restless ~ His wounds have almost healed ~ And she'd give half of Dunland ~ Just to change the way he feels ~ She knows his love's in Rohan ~ And she knows he's gonna go ~ Well it ain't no woman flesh and blood ~ It's that damned old rodeo
~ Well it's bulls and blood ~ It's dust and mud ~ It's the roar of a Sunday crowd ~ It's the white in his knuckles ~ The gold in the buckle ~ He'll win the next go 'round ~ It's boots and chaps ~ It's cowboy hats ~ It's spurs and latigo ~ It's the ropes and the reins ~ And the joy and the pain ~ And they call the thing rodeo
~ She does her best to hold him ~ When his love comes to call ~ But his need for it controls him ~ And her back's against the wall ~ And it's "So long girl, I'll see you," ~ When it's time for him to go ~ You know the woman wants her cowboy ~ Like he wants his rodeo
~ Well it's bulls and blood ~ It's dust and mud ~ It's the roar of a Sunday crowd ~ It's the white in his knuckles ~ The gold in the buckle ~ He'll win the next go 'round ~ It's boots and chaps ~ It's cowboy hats ~ It's spurs and latigo ~ It's the ropes and the reins ~ And the joy and the pain ~ And they call the thing rodeo ~ It'll drive a cowboy crazy ~ It'll drive the man insane ~ And he'll sell off everything he owns ~ Just to pay to play the game ~ And a broken home and some broken bones ~ Is all he'll have to show ~ For all the years that he spent chasin' ~ This dream they call rodeo
~ It's the broncs and the blood ~ It's the steers and the mud
~ And they call the thing rodeo
